Medical Sciences Division

The Medical Sciences Division Researchers' Toolkit has information on internal funding opportunities, which we include in the RDM Weekly Bulletin and RDM Funding Database. It also has a useful section on Research Skills &Training.

Business partnership office

The Medical Sciences Division operates an in-house Business Partnership Office, which actively seeks to promote and facilitate collaborative research with a range of industrial partners. Its focussed remit allows the division to provide the necessary resources to develop, deliver and support long-term partnerships. This team has been instrumental in setting up a number of strategic partnerships with big pharma and in building relationships with SMEs.

translational research office (TRO)

The Translational Research Office (TRO) delivers support to translational research projects ensuring the progression of basic, biomedical and clinical research towards therapies, techniques and medical products with therapeutic value. The TRO works closely with the division’s Business Partnership team, Oxford University Innovation, the Biomedical Research Centre and NHS partners.

University of Oxford Research Services

Although most academic research funding at Oxford comes from Research Councils, charities and the European Commission, there are other potential funding sources worth considering. The alternative funding sources that are relevant to the research that takes places within RDM are included in the RDM Weekly Bulletin and database. However, the University of Oxford Research Services provides information on wider funding opportunities, including those for early-career fellowships, knowledge exchange and impact activities.

External funding calls at Oxford for certain calls will have internal deadlines which gives us time to internally review applications, and send feedback to the applicants that will hopefully strengthen their application prior to submitting as well as help with coordination of Head of Department letters. Some funding schemes are submitted via a coordinated bid at the divisional level which will also have an earlier deadline than that set by the funder.

Research Professional

Research Professional is an online research funding opportunities data and alerting service that the University subscribes to. All members of the University can create a free account and use the service to find research funding in all disciplines. You can set up specific searches to find funding relevant to your interests/career stage.

External funders and other organisations

As well as the support available in Oxford, many funders have published tools and frameworks to help support research staff build successful careers. Please find below a few examples:
