Clinical Research Fellow
Closing Date: 09-SEP-2025 | 36,616 - 49,909
A full-time post as Clinical Research Fellow in Interventional Cardiology is available at the University of Oxford, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
This post is suitable for doctors who have almost completed their training in interventional cardiology and are seeking additional experience in applied clinical research prior to obtaining a consultant appointment.
Active participation in clinical studies is an integral part of the post, which will also involve training in intracoronary imaging and physiology. It is not an approved training post. It is not a suitable post for candidates with limited experience of coronary intervention or candidates who are not committed to a long-term career in applied academic cardiology.
This post is a pivotal component of the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre’s Cardiovascular Theme (BRC4), and the post-holder will actively contribute to the BRC4 research outputs, grant applications, and translational research proposals.
Only applications received before midday on September 9th can be considered. Interviews are due to take place soon thereafter.
For informal enquiries about the position, please contact Adrian Banning (Adrian.banning@cardiov.ox.ac.uk) or Giovanni Luigi De Maria (Giovanni.demaria@cardiov.ox.ac.uk)
Post-Doctoral Data Science Research Associate
Closing Date: 20-AUG-2025 | 48,235 - 57,255 per annum
Post-Doctoral Data Science Research Fellow
Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM), Churchill Hospital, Old Road, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LE
Grade 8: £48,235 - £55,636 per annum
We are seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral Research Fellow to work within a vibrant research team headed by David Ray and Rebecca Richmond at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) on studies related to circadian rhythms in population health. This post is part of a large, interdisciplinary research programme, offering attractive opportunities to work across conventional boundaries and pursue hypothesis-led science.
We will make every effort to support the successful candidate to research independence through the programme, and with training and mentoring opportunities at departmental and University level.
The work will be exclusively in-silico analysis of human rhythmic behaviour, including sleep and chronotype, and cardiometabolic disease. We will use publicly available data and apply causal inference methods, including Mendelian randomisation, to identify candidate mechanisms linking circadian misalignment and sleep disturbances with cardiometabolic disease.
The successful applicant will join an established multidisciplinary research team, undertaking and directing the research day to day whilst also supervising both technical staff and graduate research students attached to the project.
The successful applicant must hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject. They must have peer-reviewed publications using data science approaches, for example, genetic analysis, including Mendelian randomisation and genetic co-localisation approaches, epidemiological analysis of UK Biobank data, and an interest in sleep and cardiometabolic disease. They will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes.
The position, funded by a new MRC programme grant, is full-time for three years in the first instance. The position will be based at OCDEM, Churchill Hospital, Headington, Oxford.
Please note: This role has previously been advertised. We kindly request that previous candidates do not reapply, as their applications have already been considered.

Postdoctoral Researcher
Closing Date: 10-SEP-2025 | £38,674 - £46,913
The University of Oxford is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist with expertise in biostatistics, machine learning, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to join Professor Betty Raman’s cardiovascular research team.
This role is embedded within a cutting-edge programme focused on integrating high-dimensional datasets, including advanced cardiac MRI (oxygen-sensitive, metabolic, and structural), ECG, and genetics, to model disease trajectories and improve risk prediction in cardiomyopathies. The successful applicant will work closely with the PI to deliver research projects, supervise DPhil students, manage data analysis pipelines, and contribute to publications and grant writing. This post is ideally suited to someone aiming to secure a long-term fellowship and build an independent research programme at Oxford.
Candidates should hold a PhD in biomedical engineering, computer science, medical physics, statistics, or a related field. A strong track record of first-/senior or co-author publications in high impact journals, advanced proficiency in R and Python, and prior experience in cardiac imaging and high-dimensional data integration are essential.
The postholder will be expected to work on-site in Oxford at least 3 - 4 days per week to support student supervision and collaborative research. We offer a highly supportive environment within the Oxford BHF Centre of Research Excellence, with access to world-class imaging facilities and a vibrant interdisciplinary network.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Professor Betty Raman (betty.raman@cardiov.ox.ac.uk).
