About the role

This role will provide academic strategic leadership to promote and realise the Department's, Medical Sciences Division's (MSD) and broader University's vision to provide a world leading environment for research staff.

The Chair of the Department's Career Development Committee will promote the effective career development of all staff in the Department and act as RDM's Departmental Advocate for Research Staff sitting on the MSD Research Staff Forum to promote the interests of research staff in the Department.

  1. Demonstrable interest in developing others' careers (academic and non-academic)
  2. Demonstrable experience of supporting the development and implementation of researcher career development activities
  3. Demonstrable experience of supporting the career development of researchers or staff within your group
  4. A senior academic/researcher or equivalent in RDM with a contract of employment with the University of Oxford for at least the length of the first term of appointment to this role.
  5. Able to attend regular meetings
  6. Committed to remain in this role for at least the length of the first term of appointment to this role.

A panel comprising the Head of Department Professor Keith Channon, Academic EDI Champion Professor Anne Goriely, and Head of Strategic Research Development Sarah Ball will assess applications against the following criteria:
