My research is in the field of adipose tissue physiology and how the metabolic function of our adipocytes may positively or negatively affect our health outcomes.

Specifically, I am using cell models of abdominal and gluteo-femoral adipocytes along with human subjects to determine how the metabolism of a particular family of fatty acids might affect things like insulin sensitivity and inflammation. I'm also interested to know if that metabolism can be altered by changes to diet.

My workis supported by the MRC and the University College War Memorial Fund.
