NICE International, collaborating with the UK Department of Business and Trade, invited DTU Director Professor Amanda Adler to share her experiences as chair of a NICE Technology Appraisal Committee with a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health, Ukraine.

NICE and the Department of Business and Trade are undertaking a long-term project to support the Ministry of Health in their plans to create an independent health technology assessment (HTA) agency.

The meeting focused on knowledge transfer, building capability, and governance.  The need to improve healthcare decision making by implementing HTA has been a top priority in Ukraine since 2016. Ukraine established an HTA Department within the Ministry of Health in 2019, and in mid-2022 passed legislation to transition from a unit within the Ministry of Health to an independent organisation (similar to NICE).  The meetings focused on informing this transition.
