I am interested in discovering novel chemokine binding proteins. Chemokines are chemotactic cytokines that drive white blood cell migration. They have been found to be associated with a number of diseases, such as myocarditis, arthritis and atherosclerosis, so being able to neutralise their chemotactic potential may be beneficial therapeutically. To this end I am mining the tick transcriptome to discover novel evasin like proteins and utilising mRNA display technology to discover novel chemokine binding peptides.
