Nkemjika Abiakam

Clinical Trial Manager

Nkemjika Abiakam is a Clinical Trial Manager at the Diabetes Trials Unit (DTU). He is responsible for the day-to-day management of various studies and responsible for other trial related activities such as trial operations and communication with study sites and external stakeholders.

Nkemji joined the DTU in March 2023 and he is currently managing the LEGEND-D trial. He has 7 years of experience in clinical trials and prior to joining DTU, he worked for 4 years as a Clinical Trial Research Fellow, during which he was involved with the design, management and implementation of research protocols investigating various dermatological conditions, skin health, chronic wounds and novel medical device technologies.

Nkemji has a BSc in Medical Biotechnology and an MRes in Regenerative Medicine from the University of Parma (Italy) and an MSc in Regenerative Medicine and Nanotechnology from University College London. He was recently awarded a PhD in Skin Health Research from the University of Southampton.
