Kevin Clark

BSc (Hons)

Flow Cytometry Specialist

I started in the WIMM a long time ago as a Research Assistant. That position led me to being involved in the Human Genome Sequencing Project where I worked on sequencing part of the alpha globin cluster on Chromosome 16 as part of the work done by the Higgs Group. That subsequently led to working with Prof. Jonathan Flint on sequencing the telomeric regions for the project as well. I then worked with Prof. Jim Hughes on a 23 species comparative study of the alpha globin cluster.

After the sequencing work had all finished I was given the opportunity to move in to the Flow Cytometry Facility to further my technical skills. Since 2006 I’ve been an operator in the facility running a cell sorter. We train and advise other users on the instruments as well as providing a comprehensive and extensive cell sorting service.

Finally, I’m heavily involved in the running of the WIMM website which acts as a nice aside from the sorting.
