the investigative medicine division (IMD) aims to translate innovative science into patient benefit across a range of specialties.
Research at IMD:
MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit
At the MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit we pioneer the future in the study of human immunity to uncover the molecular pathways driving immune-mediated diseases. We innovate some of our leading discoveries to create new medicines.
The MRC TIDU consists of 13 research teams with over 130 scientists. We define the unknown in human immune pathogenesis for the benefit of patients.
CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA
The Laboratory of Cerebral Ischemia is a pre-clinical research group which aims to discover both the mechanisms which underlie cell death in stroke, and to develop novel strategies to reduce this. We work closely with clinical colleagues who treat stroke patients every day, so that our research can directly impact on daily clinical practice of acute stroke treatment, going from bench to bedside.
COLLABORATIONS
Human Iron Research at Oxford (HIRO)
Human Iron Research at Oxford (HIRO) is a new initiative linking clinicians and scientists with an interest in iron research, across the oxford campus. It is co-led by Professor Hal Drakesmith at the MRC HIU.
