The outcomes of the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) are now available. The Radcliffe Department of Medicine contributed to Unit of Assessment (UOA) 1, Clinical Medicine, with other departments from the Medical Sciences Division.

Professor Keith Channon, Head of the Department, said “In UOA 1, Oxford’s return was the largest overall and had the largest volume of 4* research, which is the highest score for research quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance, and rigour. I am also delighted that the number of researchers included in our UOA1 REF return was double that in REF 2014, and that we scored the highest possible score (100% 4*) for our Environment submission, reflecting our outstanding people, the way we organise and deliver our research and graduate teaching, and the facilities in which we work.”

“Very many thanks, and congratulations, to all RDM researchers whose excellent work contributed to the REF submission – and to the staff, students and the many support teams across RDM who together make for such a productive research culture and environment.”
