Alison Kay

Postdoctoral Researcher

Ali joined in Jan 2022, following postgraduate studies in genetic and genomic counselling. She is primarily investigating perspectives and experiences of genetics and genomics for recurrence risk prediction (Goriely Group, WIMM). This research is available in her recent co-authored publication in the Journal of Medical Genetics (see publications). Ali's NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant application (co-investigator) to continue this work was recently successful.

From October 2023 she has also been a research fellow (JRF) in the Centre for Personalised Medicine, Oxford.

Ali has a multi-disciplinary background and has an interest in social and historical perspectives, including implications of recreational DNA testing services such as those provided by Ancestry and 23&Me. She has published some findings on this in the Journal of Community Genetics (see publications).

Her ESRC-sponsored DPhil was undertaken at Nuffield College, Oxford and fellowship of the Royal Historical Society was granted from 2014.
