Referring to Fredrik’s appointment, Prof Hugh Watkins said that “I’m sure you will join me in wishing Fredrik every success in this role as OCDEM goes forward as a leading international centre for diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism”. At the same time he thanked Stephen for “his important contributions as Chair of OCDEM …. he has overseen a period of strong academic performance, improvement in the interface with the NHS and service delivery, and successful recruitment and career development within the ranks of the group leaders in OCDEM”.
