EDI and the Athena Swan activities are co-ordinated across the department by the RDM EDI Committee (previously called the Self-Assessement Team - SAT), co-chaired by Prof Keith Channon (Head of Department), and Prof Alison Banham (Emeritus Professor). Expertise and input is provided by cross-divisional committees and working groups, which play a key role in the local implementation of the Athena Swan action plan and in driving EDI initiatives forward.

The RDM EDI Committee meet quarterly and provide support for department-wide initiatives that benefit from a central co-ordinated approach (eg the RDM Mentoring Scheme and the RDM Career Development Committee). Charlotte Smith (EDI and Strategic Projects Facilitator), supports EDI activities across RDM, as part of the department’s ongoing initiative of creating a better workplace.

STAFF AND STUDENT  SURVEY RESULTS

One of the ways in which we monitor our progress through staff and student surveys.

2020/21

In September 2020, the RDM Environment and Culture Working Group sent out a survey to all RDM staff and students, to capture their experiences during the initial period of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to identify whether any lessons couldbe learnt. The news item and infographic and full report are now available.
