The mass-spectrometry suite at OCDEM, which is predominantly used for stable-isotope analysis in cells, blood and tissues, comprises gas-chromatography, gas-chromatography mass-spectrometry, gas bench and gas chromatography combustion isotope ratio mass spectrometry.

Ongoing studies currently focus on:

  1. understanding the metabolic effects of specific dietary fats on hepatic and whole-body in vivo human and in vitro cellular metabolism;
  2. elucidating the interaction between genotype, phenotype and diet in risk of cardiometabolic disease in vivo in humans;
  3. determining the uptake of exogenously and endogenously synthesised lipids into specific adipose tissue depots in vivo, in humans.
