Hal Drakesmith, Professor of Iron Biology Genetics in IMD/MRC WIMM/TIDU, has been appointed as RDM’s first Cross-Cutting Research Theme Lead for Biomedical Metabolism, effective from January 2024.

Hal will lead various strands of work to capitalise on the strong and growing interest in metabolism around RDM/MSD, beginning with increasing connectivity amongst researchers in this area.

Hal comments, ‘Regulation of metabolism underpins health, goes awry in disease and offers potential therapeutic targets. This Theme brings together groups with an interest in metabolism, to share methods and expertise, and to develop new projects. Metabolism research is burgeoning in biomedicine and we aim to help it grow across RDM.’
