In the UK more than 4.3 million people live with Type-2 Diabetes, and 2.4 million more are at increased risk of developing the disease. Type-2 Diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and fatty liver disease frequently cluster together in the same individuals. It is becoming clear that sleep and body clock problems have a role to play in this ‘cardiometabolic multimorbidity’, but its exact nature is under-researched.
