Prof Ronjon Chakraverty and his team, with the support of Dr Karen Shaw (Centre for Patient Reported Outcome Research, University of Birmingham), welcomed BTRU patient partners to the research facilities at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.

The event, held in November 2023, featured a series of lightning talks given by early career researchers to introduce their work. The talks included 'T-cell receptor discovery' (Dr Alicia Galdon and Asja Puncuh), 'Gene editing' (Roman Doll) and 'Epigenetic editing of therapeutic T cells' (Anna-Sophie Haselon and Bora Ozcan).

Afterwards, the visitors toured the research labs as well as a specialised ‘flow’ facility to observe many of the research techniques in action. More visits are planned in the future.
