We were pleased to welcome a delegation from Taiwan to Oxford for the signing ceremony, including Professors Chien-Sung Tsai, Yuan-Hao Chen, Chih-Yuan Lin, Jiunn-Tay Lee, and Chin-Sheng Lin. RDM's Head of Department Professor Keith Channon and Professor Chien-Sung Tsai gave speeches.
Professor Channon said: 'We recognise that international collaboration is vital to advancing our scientific mission, and we are delighted to begin this partnership with the National Defense Medical University and the Tri-Service General Hospital in Taiwan.
'For students, this is often the most formative stage of their careers. Through this agreement, we not only welcome some of the brightest emerging scientists, but also reaffirm our shared commitment to supporting them to thrive and to make the most of all that the Radcliffe Department of Medicine has to offer.'
Professor Chien-Sung Tsai said: 'Tri-Service General Hospital in Taiwan has successfully implemented the mechanical support for cardiogenic shock with CentriMag VAD, significantly increasing survival rate for patients with cardiogenic shock, which is the role model in Asia.
We are looking forward to deepening the relationship between National Defense Medical University/ Tri-Service General Hospital and the University of Oxford.'
