Shuchishmita Maitra is a Biomedical Engineer and researcher with a strong background in translational medical sciences and biomedical imaging. She graduated with first-class honours in Biomedical Engineering (BEng) from King’s College London, where her final-year project focused on targeted molecular MRI to characterise collagen III turnover in post-myocardial infarction remodelling. In parallel, she was appointed as a Research Fellow at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Smart Medical Imaging, working on AI in retinal microsurgery on a summer placement scheme. 

Following her undergraduate studies, she began a DPhil in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford’s Radcliffe Department of Medicine, where she is currently a first-year student in the Reilly Group.

Her broader research interests include cardiovascular imaging, molecular diagnostics, and AI for surgical and clinical applications.
