Sadie Bennett
BSc, FBSE

Biography
Sadie is a cardiac physiologist and Clinical Scientist who has worked in the NHS for over 10 years. Sadie specialises in echocardiography and stress echocardiography. She uses these skills to manage patients with heart valve conditions within a Scientist lead care model.
Sadie is an national assessor for the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) & British Society Echocardiography (BSE), where she is a former Chair of Accreditation. She is a sub-editor for the BSE's quarterly journal (ECHO) and reviewer for Echo, Research & Practice. Sadie is also a member of the British Society of Echocardiography research and audit committee, Council member and Trustee.
Sadie's national contribution to cardiac science has been recognised with being awarded a Fellowship of the BSE and winner the SCST, Dave Richley award for outstanding education (2024).
Sadie aspires to develop towards a role as a clinical academic (who use their expert clinical skills to conduct high quality research to benefit patients) and was awarded a Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to undertake Masters level training and to work alongside the Oxford Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility under the primary supervision of Professor Paul Leeson.
Current research projects include assessing sex differences in stress echocardiography using the EVAREST dataset. Developing novel imaging biomarkers to improve the detection of heart valve diseases and supporting the continued the development of the National Echocardiographic Database of the UK (NED-UK).
