Cancer services have increasingly been in the spotlight in recent years due to concerns about reported variability in the delivery of treatment and care and possibly associated variability in outcomes. The recent report of the Chief Medical Officer's Expert Advisory Group on Cancer, entitled A Policy Framework for Commissioning Cancer Services, outlines some important recommendations regarding the re-organisation of cancer services nationally. The West Midlands Region have undertaken their own review and are in the process of implementing the proposals in the 'Calman Report' and radically reshaping cancer services in this region. © 1995 Pearson Professional Ltd All rights reserved.
