I am a PhD student working in Tudor Fulga's group at the MRC WIMM. The aim of my research is to develop a tool for fine-tuning endogenous gene expression. Though several technologies enable researchers and clinicians to completely switch off a gene of interest, methods of precisely down-regulating gene activity to a user-specified level are lacking. Using a combination of genome engineering and molecular biology approaches, we are developing a precise step-wise loss of function technology to compliment existing knockout approaches. We are currently applying our new tool towards understanding leukaemia initiation and improving cell-based cancer immunotherapy.
