Rishi Patel

Clinical Research Fellow

Dr Rishi Patel joined the Diabetes Trials Unit (DTU) in August 2016 as a Clinical Research Fellow. He will be acting as Clinical Lead for the EXSCEL trial, as well as being involved in the set-up and management of other clinical trials involving the DTU. He will also be contributing to various novel research projects co-ordinated by the DTU. 

After obtaining his medical degree and BSc in Physiological Sciences at the University of Bristol in 2012, Rishi completed his Foundation Training in a broad range of medical specialities, including cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, general surgery, paediatrics, general practice and emergency medicine. He then spent 18 months working in Australia, primarily in emergency medicine. He holds full medical registration status in the UK.
