Nils Koelling

Postdoctoral researcher

I am a postdoctoral researcher in statistical genetics and bioinformatics. My research focusses on clinical applications of high-throughput exome and whole-genome sequencing technologies using the example of craniosynostosis, a rare disease affecting about one in 2,000 children in the UK.

In addition, I study biological processes that may contribute to the increasing prevalence of some diseases with increasing paternal age, in particular selfish spermatogonial selection. I obtained my PhD from the University of Cambridge, working in the research group of Professor Ewan Birney at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).
