The role of the endothelium in trauma coagulopathy
Nikki Curry studied medicine at Cambridge. After completing her medical and haematology training in London and Oxford, she studied for her MD with Professor Simon Stanworth at NHS Blood & Transplant, Oxford. She is a Consultant Haematologist with a clinical practice in disorders of bleeding and clotting. Her research focuses on the better understanding of the pathophysiology of trauma coagulopathy and in particular the influence of the endothelium on the evolution of the coagulopathy and the associated bleeding. The aim of her research is to develop to an endothelial model of trauma haemorrhage with a view to improving treatments for major bleeding.
She sits on the UKHCDO Genetics and Gynaecology Working Parties; is the NIHR co-lead for haematology for the Thames Valley; and is a committee member of the British Society of Haemostasis and Thrombosis. She is a co-investigator for a UK wide trauma study: CRYOSTAT-2, evaluating the efficacy of early cryoprecipitate therapy in major trauma haemorrhage.
