I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy, graduating with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics and Chemistry.

During my Masters of Biological Sciences (Advanced) at the Australian National University, I conducted my research project in “Examining the genetics of malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum invasion of human erythrocytes using CRISPR-Cas9 gene engineering” at the John Curtin School of Medical Research. I also worked for the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the ANU, which gave me experience working on a national cohort epidemiology study and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Currently, I am a DPhil student on the Wellcome Trust programme in Genomic Medicine and Statistics (2019-2023). With my supervisors Calliope Dendrou at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics and James Davies at the Weatherall Institute for Molecular Medicine, I am investigating precision genome editing with tandem autologous transplantation as a therapy for multiple severe immune-mediated diseases.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • Genetic engineering technologies including CRISPR/Cas9 and Base Editing for therapeutic applications.
  • Mechanisms behind the regulation of proteins involved in immune mediated diseases.
