Mary-Anne Durin
DPhil student
In October 2020, I started as a DPhil student in the Chapman lab.
My research focuses on the molecular mechanism of BRCA1-dependent 53BP1 exclusion and its role in double-strand break (DSB) repair pathway choice.
Prior to starting my DPhil, I completed my BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Brunel University London. During this time, I had a 12-month research-based placement at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford. I was part of the Chromosome Dynamics Core group and gained extensive experience in cytogenetics and worked on numerous chromosome instability and genome integrity projects. This increasingly developed my interest in DNA DSB repair mechanisms and of genome instability in cancer.
