Elizabeth Figueroa-Juarez

PhD

Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Originally from Mexico, I completed my undergraduate studies at the faculty of Chemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and an MSc in Biomedicine (Distinction). Later, I completed an MRes and my PhD in metabolic and cardiovascular disease at the University of Cambridge, funded by a Cambridge Wellcome Trust scholarship. During this time, I was awarded with a Charter Award from Homerton College at the University of Cambridge, and a Carlos Fuentes award. I also did two research internships, one funded by the Nuffield Department of Medicine in Oxford, and another one in Germany funded by Bayer Science and Education Foundation. In June 2024 I joined Sarah De Val lab at the IDRM as a postdoctoral research fellow as part of the Novo Nordisk-University of Oxford program. My fellowship project is focused on identifying human arterial enhancers and explore key transcriptional regulators and pathways regulated by pathological stimuli inherent to atherosclerosis.
