My research combines mathematical and statistical modelling to develop new theoretical frameworks -- informed by experiments -- with which to investigate biological systems. Currently I work on stem cell dynamics and cell fate choice in intestinal crypts. Perturbations to the homeostatic state of these crypts (for instance, due to genetic mutation) could indicate an early step on the road to cancer.
My background is in mathematics; I received my PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. Prior to this I studied mathematics and physics (MMath&Phys) at the University of Manchester.
