Congratulations to Prof Graham Ogg and Prof Paresh Vyas who have been named National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Senior Investigators in recognition of their \u201coutstanding contribution to clinical and applied health and social care research\u201d. In addition, Prof Mark McCarthy has had his Senior Investigator award renewed. This is a tremendous achievement for all of them as these are highly competitive and prestigious awards
Congratulations to Huw Colin-York, Quentin Ferry and Thomas Riffelmacher, who won 2017\u2019s RDM Graduate Prize. All three students displayed research excellence during their DPhil studies and have helped to progress their respective fields.
Many congratulations to Dr Robert Beagrie, a postdoc with Prof Doug Higgs at the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit, who has been awarded a prestigious Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship. The four-year award offers recently qualified postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to start independent research careers.
The Curiosity Carnival rolled into town on 29 September for a festival of all things research. Over 30 researchers from across RDM took part in the largest public engagement event Oxford has ever staged.
Members of the Oxford and Thames Valley MDS Patient Support Group, which provides support to those affected by Myelodysplastic Syndromes, visited the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM) on Friday 29 September. The visit was hosted by Dr Lynn Quek and members of Prof Paresh Vyas' research team at the MRC Molecular Hematology Unit, who are members of the Radcliffe Department of Medicine. Their research is supported by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.

Staff across RDM have been recognised in the Medical Sciences Division\u2019s Teaching Excellence Awards 2017. The Teaching Excellence Awards scheme recognises and rewards excellence in teaching, the organisation and development of teaching, and support for teaching and learning, within a research-intensive environment.
The MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (MRC WIMM) invited Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds to learn more about cutting edge research taking place in her constituency and learn more from researchers about the challenges they face. The visit took place on 30 August.
