\n \n \n \nThe hearts of people born prematurely are less able to cope with the pressures of exercise in adulthood, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and part-funded by the British Heart Foundation and the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre.

\n \n \n \nResearchers from the University of Oxford are using artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic accuracy for heart disease. The team hope to roll out the system across the NHS later this year, helping to improve patient outcomes and saving millions is misdiagnoses. The research, led by Prof Paul Leeson and RDM DPhil student Ross Upton (Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility), took place in the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust and is the basis of spin-out company Ultromics.

\n \n \n \nAs part of International Day of the Midwife, Emma O\u2019Brien caught up with Yvonne Kenworthy \u2013 Lead Research Midwife in the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility (CCRF), which is led by Prof Paul Leeson. CCRF facilitates high quality cardiovascular research within a clinical research environment with particular expertise in echocardiography, vascular assessment and clinical physiology.
