This month, Dr Iztok Urbančič joined Christian Eggeling's lab in the MRC Human Immunology Unit, supported by a prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellowship. Iztok completed his studies in physics in 2009 at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and obtained his PhD in biophysics in 2013 from the University of Maribor, Slovenia. During his 2-year fellowship here at the MRC WIMM, he will work on further improving super-resolution STED microscopy by introducing spectrally resolved detection in combination with environment selective probes. He will use these advancements to gain further insight into changes of molecular membrane organization and dynamics during immune cell activation.
