Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
RDM, in line with the University, fosters an inclusive culture which promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected.
The University and RDM work to remove barriers which deter people of the highest potential and ability from applying to, and thriving at Oxford, either as staff or students.
For information about EDI policy and practice across the University please visit the Equality and Diversity Unit webpage where you will find information and support regarding:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender
- Race
- Religion and Belief
- Sexual Orientation
- Transgender and Gender Identity
EDI in RDM
Equality, diversity and inclusion policies are set at an institutional level but implementation takes place at departmental level. Members of RDM work with colleagues on both institutional committees and local working groups to ensure policies are translated into best practice. For specific programmes please see the additional menus on the right of the page.
EDI work in RDM is coordinated via the EDI Committee. We have further information on the team, survey reports and action plans available on the EDI Committee webpage (see link on right of this page).
online training
To help both promote equality and diversity and understand unconscious bias and its impact in the workplace, RDM has made it mandatory for all staff to complete Unconscious Bias and Equality and Diversity online training.
These courses need to be retaken every three years. Staff who have completed the NHS Equality & Diversity training course and are able to provide evidence to their local personnel officers are exempt.
Please note that in order for the system to register that you have completed these courses, it is essential to get to the very last screen before exiting the modules. On this screen, you will be able to select the option to print a certificate and we encourage you to print a copy for your records. If you have any specific queries about the training, please contact your local personnel officer, who will be able to advise you further.
