About NDCLS
Our aim is to study the pathology of human disease from the molecular to systems level, and to translate our findings into treatments for human disorders.
We also provide training to medical students, trainees and fellows in the areas of clinical laboratory science through internationally acclaimed training programmes. Ultimately, through the combination of these and our close collaborations with clinical colleagues in other University and NHS departments we strive to deliver excellence in medical diagnosis and care to patients.
Our Head of Division is Professor Deborah Gill.
We bring together all of the clinical laboratory-based disciplines within the Oxford Medical School. This includes microbiology, genetics, cellular pathology, hæmatology and clinical biochemistry.
Our major funders are the Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council and Bloodwise. We also hold significant awards provided to us by the British Heart Foundation, Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council, Department of Health, Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund, National Institute for Health Research, Cancer Research UK and the European Commission.
