Applications are warmly invited for training and personal development from all involved in the University of Oxford and OUH Trust haematology clinical and research fieldsespecially allied health professionals, laboratory staff and researchers 

Examples of previously funded training and education include:

  • Attendance at international/national conferences – for example attendance (virtually) at EHA, ESH, ASHEMBT or other relevant meetings, especially for those who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend.   

  • Individual courses/research training 

  • Support for training/educational forums for your research / clinical service, including invited speakers/venue hire/refreshments 

  • Tools and equipment to support training 

  • Away days/brainstorming days to increase collaborative working (could take place in the post-lock-down era!) 

  • Small pots of consumablefundsto generate preliminary data for new projects, or to support research/clinical projects undertaken by medical students/younger trainees 

Previous awards have been between £250 and £3000, depending on the budget and how many applications are received. In some cases, a partial award is made, towards the full costs.  

All applications will be reviewed by a small and diverse panel including representatives from medical, research, nursing, pharmacy and laboratory staff, with a particular focus on initiatives which may accelerate translation of research to the clinic. 

Apply at before 5pm Friday 30 July. We hope to announce awards by 1 September.  


Important information: 

  • All training must take place either in the UK or online, and be completed by 31 March 2022. 

  • Payment of course fees may be either a reimbursement for a personal credit card payment, or otherwise the applicant may request an invoice from the training providers, and then submit that to Tim Quantick, the WIMM finance director 

  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to request any necessary invoices and ensure that payment is received in a timely way, before the cut off of 28 February 2022 for all payments and reimbursements. 

  • Please make sure that you either have insurance in place or a full refund will be possible in the event that you are not able to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions or self-isolation.  

  • You are asked to submit a training report within one month of completion.
