He is replacing Prof Stephen Gough who is making a career move to join the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. Referring to Fredrik’s appointment, Prof Hugh Watkins said that “I’m sure you will join me in wishing Fredrik every success in this role as OCDEM goes forward as a leading international centre for diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism”. At the same time he thanked Stephen for “his important contributions as Chair of OCDEM …. he has overseen a period of strong academic performance, improvement in the interface with the NHS and service delivery, and successful recruitment and career development within the ranks of the group leaders in OCDEM”.
