We deliver the Laboratory Medicine course in a nine week block to approximately 160 University of Oxford medical students in their fourth year of the Oxford University Medicine Degree Programme (BM,BCh).

We aim to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of disease processes to enable them to diagnose patients’ disease, including planning and interpreting the results of laboratory-based investigations.

The course includes lectures, small group teaching, large group practical classes as well as autopsy and other demonstrations. We are proud of our teaching and have been commended by the General Medical Council for the quality of our teaching and responsiveness to the needs of our students. We are also repeatedly and consistently rated the highest course in the UK by the National Student Survey for Medicine.

Please note we do not accept applications directly to this course.
