We have evaluated an ambulatory infusion pump for the administration of intra-arterial chemotherapy in 15 patients with multiple colorectal hepatic metastases. 193 pulses were given over a 12 month period. Minor complications occurred on nine occasions and only one major complication was encountered. Out-patient treatment has saved the hospital over Σ45,000 whilst maintaining the patients quality of life.
