Leonid Olender

PhD

Postdoctoral Researcher

Leonid Olender received his BSc and MSc degrees from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. During his MSc training at the lab of Michael Milyavsky, he investigated the mechanisms underlying DNA damage-induced apoptosis in human Haematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells exposed to ionizing radiation. He then moved to the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, also in Israel, for a PhD under the supervision of Roi Gazit. Working on his thesis there, he focused his efforts on attempts to improve the technical abilities for ex vivo manipulation of murine Haematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs) and lineage-committed Haematopoietic Progenitors. At the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit (MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford), Leonid is a postdoctoral researcher in Adam Wilkinson's group. His primary interest is the investigation of the processes underlying epigenetic regulation and the ageing of HSCs.
