Bus/Train Pass Schemes

Staff can obtain up to a 10% discount on selected bus passes issued by Oxford Bus Company, Stagecoach and Thames Travel in Oxford. Discounts of 15% are also applied to most annual train tickets to Oxford through the easitOXFORD scheme

Off-peak discounts and first class upgrades for annual rail season ticket holders also available (Subject to terms and conditions).

In both instances staff can apply for an interest free loan with repayment by monthly deductions from salary over the period of the pass.

Season Ticket Loan Scheme

For those tickets that are not covered by either the Bus or Train pass schemes the University offers an interest free loan for the purchase of bus, train and P&R car parking season tickets.

easitOXFORD

easitOXFORD is a discount scheme being offered through a new partnership between Oxford University and easitOXFORD, an organisation that supports businesses by offering their staff sustainable transport solutions for their journeys to work. Through the scheme staff can obtain discounts on rail travel with First Great Western and various discounts related to bicycle hire, purchase and servicing.

Assistance with the purchase of a bicycle

The University will offer staff an interest free loan to the value of your monthly net pay (or a maximum of £1,000, whichever is the lower) to assist with the purchase of a bicycle and associated safety equipment for personal use. Discounts are also available at various local retailers ranging from 5-10%. For more information, and full terms and conditions, please see the central university bike loan scheme pages.

Bicycle repair

Staff are eligible for the labour costs to be paid by the University for repairs to bicycles that are used to get to and from work, where the repairs are undertaken by the University's mobile mechanic. Further details are available through the university's bicycle repair scheme pages which includes a weekly service at the Old Road Campus. For those staff on the John Radcliffe hospital site a more local service is available, but is not subsidised by the University.

Car parking/Car Sharing

On hospital sites To park on the hospital sites, staff require a parking permit that is issued by the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Permits are issued solely on the basis of need as assessed against the criteria outlined in the regulations as opposed to status, length of service or any other factor. Application forms for parking at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals can be downloaded here. For further information regarding car parking at the hospital sites can be found here email the OUH Travel and Transport Manager.

On University sites, including Old Road Campus To park at the University, staff require a parking permit. Staff permits are issued solely on the basis of need as assessed against the criteria outlined in the regulations as opposed to status, length of service or any other factor. Application forms for parking in Oxford Centre can be downloaded here. Staff that need to bring their car into Oxford on a regular basis should read the University Car Parking Policy and Standing Orders before completing an application form for a car parking permit.

Staff are recommended to use the city's Park and Ride service or join the University car share scheme
