MRI scans are very safe.  There are no known side-effects from MRI. MRI does not use ionising radiation.

MRI uses a very strong magnet and because of this special precautions are taken with anyone who may have metal inside their body. A member of the team will run through a safety form with you, and ask questions to make sure that the scan is safe for you.

Please tell us if you have a pacemaker, we will also ask about any previous operations or medical procedures, if you have ever had a serious accident or if fragments of metal have ever entered your eyes.

If you are concerned and want to talk to someone before the scan please contact us.
