The Oxford Research Echocardiography Core Laboratory (ORECL) is a core analysis laboratory providing state-of-the-art echocardiographic imaging interpretation and analysis from single investigator pre-clinical studies through to global multi-site clinical trials

The Oxford Research Echocardiography Core Laboratory (ORECL) is located within the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) run by the University of Oxford, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (CVM). ORECL provides comprehensive support for cardiovascular clinical research studies with state-of-the-art echocardiographic imaging interpretation and analysis. The ultimate objective of the ORECL is to ensure that the echocardiographic data are robust enough to support or refute the hypothesis or objective of the study. The main purpose of the ORECL is to define and standardise processes for image acquisition and analysis; training of sonographers and over-readers; image and data management; quality assurance of the sites and quality and image review of echocardiographic data with the aim of reducing arbitrariness and variability.

The specific services that the ORECL may provide to a given study/ clinical trial include:

-       Site certification and quality assurance process

-       Site sonographers and ORECL personnel training

-       Image transfer

-       Image clinical and technical review

-       Image and data management

The ORECL Management Group will consider expressions of interest to support research projects and clinical trials. Approval for activity will be dependent on (1) the project, procedure or service fitting with the strategic aims and resources available within ORECL, (2) evidence of appropriate regulatory approvals, (3) availability of funding.

If you have any questions or comments please contact ORECL.
