We describe the audiometric findings in a unique family in which the presence of hearing impairment has only recently been demonstrated (Ravine, Raggie, Stephens and Wilkie, 1997). The inheritance is apparently autosomal dominant and the underlying audiometric abnormality appears to be a low to mid-frequency dip generally associated with dominantly inherited conditions.
