A huge congratulations to Prof Barbara Casadei, who has been elected President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

The ESC, formed in 1950, aims to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe and unites over 90,000 members. Besides their annual congress – the largest medical meeting in Europe – the ESC is at the forefront of education, policy formation and guideline development across all areas of cardiology. Previously, Prof Casadei has served as vice-president, leading on scientific affairs, research and clinical trials. We wish her every success in this appointment.
