Additional funding has been provided by Novo Nordisk to support another 20 Fellows, bringing the total number of Fellows to 32. The fellowships are aimed at early career postdoctoral researchers and clinicians wishing to undertake a PhD (DPhil). The Fellowship programme aims to support the development of a new generation of exceptional young diabetes researchers, who will become future leaders in the field, while further developing scientific excellence within diabetes and ultimately improving the lives of patients.

In announcing this expansion of the fellowship programme, Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, Novo Nordisk’s Chief Science Officer, said “We are proud to continue our association with University of Oxford and with this fellowship programme, which broadens our network at top academic institutions while supporting cutting-edge diabetes research.” Peter Kurtzhals, senior vice president of Global Research at Novo Nordisk, added that “We want to promote scientific excellence within diabetes, and one important way of doing this is to support the education of young, exceptional research talent within this area.”

Full details of the fellowships are available on the RDM website. The next call for Fellowships will be announced in late February 2016. Any enquiries should be directed to Dr Ruth McCaffrey.
