We would like to invite you to a one day symposium on acute vascular disease at the Richard Doll Building on Thursday 23rd November 2017. The day will consist of neuro and cardiac themed talks that span development / validation and applications in clinical research.

We are delighted to welcome Prof Michael Hill (University of Calgary, Canada) to present the second Sir Paul Nurse lecture as part of the symposium.

AVIC was formally opened on October 15th 2012 by Sir Paul Nurse. Following on from the success of the day which included an afternoon of lectures, a biennial symposium was established to reflect on the work carried out in AVIC and to look forward to future developments. The day to end with a guest speaker, the lecture being named after Sir Paul Nurse in recognition of the support he had given AVIC.

AVIC 2015 Symposium - Prof Valentin Fuster

The first symposium was held in October 2015 and Professor Valentin Fuster (Mount Sinai Hospital, USA) presented the inaugural Sir Paul Nurse lecture - 'From the vulnerable plaque to the burden of disease'.
